About the event
Risk Awareness Week is the largest virtual conference on risk-based decision making, held every October since 2019. Its premise is simple: risk management is not about risks — it is about decisions. Rather than discussing frameworks and registers, the programme teaches professionals how to put credible numbers on uncertainty and use them where decisions are actually made: budgets, forecasts, projects, contracts and insurance.
The 2026 programme combines short practical sessions with hands-on workshops covering quantitative risk analysis without heavy mathematics, AI agents for risk and compliance work, budget and contingency modelling, insurance renewal strategy, and decision-making under uncertainty. Sessions are taught by practitioners rather than presenters — speakers across seven years have included Douglas Hubbard, Sam Savage, Norman Marks and Grant Purdy, alongside risk, insurance and decision professionals from organizations including J.P. Morgan, Shell, Allianz, Rio Tinto and the World Bank Group.
Since 2019, more than 21,600 professionals from over 140 countries have attended. In 2024, FERMA — the Federation of European Risk Management Associations — named Risk Awareness Week its Training and Education Programme of the Year.
Who should attend
Risk, governance and compliance professionals; internal auditors; insurance and finance practitioners; and anyone whose work involves plans, forecasts or decisions made under uncertainty. For governance and compliance professionals in particular, the event addresses a question central to the role: how to move from documenting risk to informing the decisions the organization makes.
